11 April 2017 – Hyundai has announced important MY18 changes to its hugely popular Tucson range.

A consistently strong top-seller in the thriving Australian medium-SUV market, MY18 Tucson introduces powertrain line-up changes and range-wide access to Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto compatibility.

Major MY18 powertrain change in the four-tier Tucson line-up is the adoption of Hyundai’s acclaimed 2.0-litre GDi (gasoline direction-injection) four-cylinder engine in Tucson Active and Elite variants. The more potent, more efficient GDi engine replaces the 2.0-litre MPi (multi-point injection) engine previously available in those variants.

The 2.0-litre GDi Nu engine delivers 121kW maximum power and 203Nm maximum torque (up from the MPi engine’s 114kW and 192Nm respectively). The GDi engine is matched with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission in Tucson Active and Active X variants (six-speed automatic transmission only in the Elite model).

2.0-litre GDi engine specifications:

  • Cubic capacity: 1,999cc
  • Maximum power: 121kW @ 6,200rpm
  • Maximum torque: 203Nm @ 4,700rpm
  • 16-valve four-cylinder with Hydraulic Lash Adjustment (HLA)
  • Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT)
  • Gasoline Direct Injection
  • Compression ratio: 11.5:1
  • Fuel consumption: 7.8L/100km (manual), 7.9L/100km (automatic)
