The Australian Motoring Festival

If you are in Melbourne this weekend then there is no better place for you to be then the Australian Motoring Festival which kicked off yesterday on March 26 and will run over 4 days at the Melbourne show grounds til March 29.
The Motoring Festival is something I believe we have needed in country for quite a while and will let the motoring public connect with manufacturers in away never seen before in this country.
It promises to be a great day out for the whole family with attractions such as a Family Fun Zone & Entertainment, New Car Pavilion & New Vehicle Promenade, ‘History that Moves’ Exhibit which is a fantastic display featuring 150 vehicles and bikes from veteran, vintage, classic and special interest groups and Clubs. Each day include a theme Thursday: British Day Friday: MG & Classics Day Saturday: Italian Day Sunday: Veteran & Vintage Day.
The Auto Design Centre & Industry Showroom will show about what is involved with the design process of cars and will take you from sketching to CAD, from clay modelling to interiors and trim. There will also be some of the best designers in the business from Ford, GM Holden and Toyota who will demonstrate all aspects of the design process.
What some more hands on fun then maybe the test track will be more for your liking, the test track lets you get behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz or Volvo and drive it on the on the tarmac track. The re will also be demonstrations from the Pedders Racing 86 (Thur/Fri only), and you can register at the Pits to take a ride in a Variety Bash Vehicle or a Classic Cadillac.
Is off roading more your style then TOMCAR Australia and Pedders TrakRyder Patrol will be offering passenger rides on the 4WD track.
Into things on 2 wheels then, Southbank Motorcycles BMW and A1 Motorcycles will be displaying new model Honda, Husqvarna, Aprilia, and Moto Guzzi, bikes and Dolomiti Electric Bicycles, Dyson Bikes, Melbourne Electric Bicycles, Stealth Electric Bikes and Reid Cycles will be there showcasing the latest models and you’ll be able to test ride a bike on a dedicated circuit within the ground.
Australia’s best cars Australia’s largest new vehicle testing program and they will have all 45 winners and finalists from the 2014 program on display.
Looking for something special to park in your garage then you might want to check out Mossgreen’s Collectors’Motor Cars & Automobilia Auction on Sunday the 29th which feature a number of very collectable classic cars and memorabilia. Some of the cars to features in the auction will be the original 1981 Australian Grand Prix winning car, a stunning ruby red 1959 Porsche Coupe, two classic Jaguar E-Type Series, from 1963 and ’69, a fully restored 1928 custom made Ute and a rare 1971 Chrysler Valiant Charger.
One of the big highlights to though is going to the Ferrari exhibition which will include a Ferrari showroom, a display of classic Ferrari’s, a Ferrari Kids Zone with simulators, face painting, and kids Ferrari drive experiences.
The centre piece to the exhibition is the $3 million limited production hybrid supercar the LaFerrari which will take centre spot and is a big enough excuse on it’s own to go.
There will also be a Entertainment Zone featuring artists Live on Stage during the every day of the Festival,
The Australian Motoring Festival opens at 10am daily and runs until Sunday March 29 at the Melbourne Showgrounds.
